College/Career Resource
Career readiness for secondary students involves developing skills that are applicable to any job or industry, as well as gaining the information needed to succeed in the job market. CSVA focused LAUSD pathway is Information and Communication Technologies. Teach soft skills
These skills are often called soft skills and include time management, adaptability, teamwork, creativity, problem solving, and leadership skills.
Teach practical job-preparedness skills
This includes resume writing, interview skills, interview etiquette, and how to decide which jobs to apply for.
Connect students with outside businesses and organizations
This can help students discover which jobs they are passionate about and gain hands-on experience.
Help students explore their interests
This includes learning about themselves, identifying possible careers, and doing research.
Provide work-based learning
This can include bringing community partners into the classroom or having students participate in other work-based learning experiences. In addition CSVA has provided a Transition Resource Guide to assist students and their families in researching post-secondary opportunities.
